CROSWELL- Hugh Donald Gordon, 90, of Croswell, Michigan, passed away on October 18, 2023 at the hospice house in Marlette. He was born on April 23, 1933, in Croswell, Michigan, to the late Allan and Nora Gordon.
Hugh was a loving husband, married to Donna Mae for 64 years until her passing in 2016. He is survived by his two sons, Douglas (Julie) Gordon and Duane (Sheila) Gordon. Hugh was a proud grandfather to Christine (Dave) Jennings, David (Katie) Gordon, Karen (Reese) Send, Sarah (Michael) Ridley, Scott (Mariah) Gordon, Eric (Sarah DeSonia) Gordon, and Charlene (Joshua) Nagy. He also cherished his great-grandchildren, Elle and Brooks Jennings, David Jr. (Dannielle) and Devyn Gordon, Emma, Elise, and Mae Send, Aiden and Kara Ridley, Jolene and Lilah Gordon, Dominik and Alydia Gordon, Aleksandra and Warner Nagy, and great great-granddaughter Blair Gordon. Also surviving are step-grandchildren Jennifer Edwards, Stephanie Boultinghouse and Ben Boultinghouse. Step great grandchildren Skylar Boultinghouse, Chelsie and Kyle Woodburn, Aiden, Amberly, Liam and Dahlia Barkowsky. Hugh is also survived by his companion, Marian Head, her son Ralph (Gayle Sykes), his sister-in-law Lois Gordon, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was also preceded in death by his parents Allan and Nora Gordon, his in-laws Alex and Thressa McAllister, and his brothers Bruce, Ted, Robert, and Jim.
Hugh served his country in Korea in the Army. After his military service, he had a successful career as a well driller, head of maintenance at Sanilac Career Center, and a long-time groundskeeper at the Sanilac County Fairgrounds. In the late 1960's and 70's he sold and repaired Skiroule Snowmobiles. His dedication and hard work were greatly appreciated by those he served.
Hugh was an active member of the Community of Christ Church and Buel Country Church, where he found solace and community. He lived a full life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending quality time with his family. Hugh's sense of humor, teasing, and laughter brought joy to those around him.
Visitation will be from 1- 8 P.M. on Sunday at the Pomeroy Funeral Home in Croswell. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. on Monday at the funeral home with visiting from 10- 11 A.M., Rev. Rick Ferguson of the Buel Country Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the Washington Cemetery in Carsonville with Military Honors provided by Croswell American Legion Post 255. Memorials may be made to United Hospice of Marlette or Buel Country Church.
