Hugh Wilson of McHenry, IL passed away on Thursday, September 25, 2025.
He was born on June 21, 1940 to his parents, Lydia and Hugh Wilson Sr.
A man of many talents and a generous spirit, Hugh lived a full and joyful life. He enjoyed woodworking, jewelry making, planting flowers, fishing, and hunting. His greatest adventures were the many travels he shared with his beloved wife Mary, with Colorado holding a special place in his heart.
Known for his humor and quick wit, Hugh was often the comic relief in any room. His warm smile and kind nature made him a natural as he played Santa for the Cary Lions Club, a role he cherished. His love for bringing joy to others extended into his work as the proud owner of Santa's Village, which he operated for 30 years, creating lasting memories for countless families.
Hugh will be remembered for his creativity, laughter, and the love he shared with family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of joy, generosity, and unforgettable moments.
Hugh is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Wilson; his children, Dinny Wilson, Jeff (Patti) Wilson, Mike (Cori Deyoe) Wilson, Melissa (Mark) Draka, Jeannine Duplessis, Michelle (Keith) Fetzner, Regina (Mike) Jackowski, and Ann Marie (John) Levra; as well as 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lydia and Hugh Wilson Sr.; and his brother, Robert Wilson.
A visitation for Hugh will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2025, at Colonial Funeral Home, 591 Ridgeview Drive, McHenry, IL.
A memorial Mass will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday October 3, 2025 at the Church of Holy Apostles,
