Hugh Wright Obituary

Hugh Anthony Wright, age 86, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2025.
Hugh was born on August 21st, 1938, in Port Antonio, Portland, Jamaica in the West Indies. He took great pride in everything he did. Also, Hugh was a great man of many talents, such as carpentry, barbering, but most of all, his divine Caribbean cooking. His skills as a chef led him to the Cruise Industry. There, he cooked, served, and brought joy to countless people's taste buds and stomachs with his delicious Caribbean meals. There was no Jamaican food he couldn't cook, whether it was ackee, escovitch, ox tails, curry goat and chicken, jerk chicken and pork, and the list goes on and on.
Hugh and his memory are survived by his loving wife, Marlyn Bryan-Wright, of Zephyrhills Florida; son, Wayne Wright of Mitchellville, MD; Daughter-in-law, La Shawn Wright of Mitchellville, MD; four grandchildren - Jace A. Wright of Kaufman, TX, Meshai Cox (Saun Cox) of Mitchellville, MD, Heavenly Anthony, of Mitchellville, MD, and James Anthony of Mitchellville, MD; and six beautiful great-grandchildren - Eli & Aiko Weaver, Scarlet, Koa and Asante' Cox, and Reign Anthony-Smith.
Hugh's spirit will also live on through his two EXCEPTIONAL, devoted friends, Shirley Pantoja and Julio Pantoja of Zephyrhills, Florida.
Hugh is predeceased in death by his parents, Edley and Gwendolyn Wright; his son, Winston A. Wright; and his beloved furry-friend Chip, and a host of relatives and friends who will all dearly miss him.
The family have elected for private services at this time and Hugh will be laid to rest in the Gulf of Mexico to return home. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Hugh, please visit our Tree Store.
