Hunter Edward Rounds, 20, tragically passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025, doing what he loved most, alongside the person he loved -his father. He was struck by an oncoming truck during a Father's Day motorcycle ride, a moment that forever changed all who knew and loved him.
Hunter was born on January 30, 2005, in Burlington, VT, to Bobbie Jo Kingsbury and Jason Rounds. He lived with his parents in Grand Isle, Vermont, where he spent his entire life, becoming a beloved member of the community.
Hunter was known for his kind heart, unwavering loyalty, joyful spirit, and endless curiosity. He was always eager to learn, to grow, and to try something new-at least once. His energy and ambition were contagious, and he never did anything halfway.
From a young age, Hunter brought life and laughter to those around him. He attended Grand Isle Elementary School, where he was known for horsing around on the playground, refusing to wear pants even in the harshest Vermont winters, and shining on both the soccer fields and basketball courts.
He went on to attend Colchester High School, where he continued playing soccer, worked full-time, and excelled academically-juggling his responsibilities with grace and determination. He graduated with pride in 2023, making his family and friends incredibly proud.
Most recently, Hunter had started a job with Orkin and was excited about the future it promised. He dreamed of building a life with his girlfriend, Gabby-moving in together, buying a home, investing, and one day starting a family of his own.
Outside of work, Hunter's passions were as wide-ranging as his heart was big. He loved playing video games with his longtime friend Jace from California, building electronics, riding motorcycles with his dad, reading graphic novels, and stacking rock towers at Vantine's. He found peace watching sunsets with Gabby, joy in the company of his tight-knit group of friends-especially his best friend Henry-and pure happiness playing with his niece, Cece. The list of things Hunter loved could go on forever.
Hunter is survived by his parents, Bobbie Jo Kingsbury and Jason Rounds of Grand Isle; his sister, Makayla Rounds of Boston; his brother, James, and niece, Cecilya Kingsbury of St. Albans; his sister, Amber Kingsbury of Winooski; his grandparents, Mark and Anne Lindsay of Alburgh; and his godparents, Dave and Christine Blackmore of Underhill.
The loss of someone as extraordinary as Hunter leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled. To have loved and been loved by him was a gift we will carry with us always. Grief is not weakness-it is love with nowhere to go. And while grief may change with time, the love we feel for Hunter will never fade. We will continue to cry, to smile, to laugh with his memory, and to honor him in the lives we live. Hunter will never be forgotten; he lives on in everyone who knew and loved him.
