Back in 2011 when the Glen Rock Environmental Commission started the program to eliminate thin film plastic bags I went see Hy at his home. I wanted a cute cartoon that showed a family shopping at a supermarked and refusing those awful bags. Hy's cartoon was absolutely perfect. I will never forget him. The original cartoon can be seen at the Glen Rock Historical Society

Hy was a lifelong friend of my dad, Cy Francus. They became friends growing up in Paterson. I still have the comic strip Hy created for my Bat Mitzvah card back in the 1970's. I hope he and my dad reconnect in heaven.

I met Hy as a Kubert School student in 1978. When I discovered that he and I shared the same birthday, I was very pleasantly surprised. Hy was an excellent teacher and taught me much more than lettering and humor. He taught me how to be a professional and a human being. My wife and I are very thankful for his friendship and kindness over the years. Goodbye, award-winning Hy Eisman - thrice nominated, twice won.
