Ian Smith Obituary

Published by Porter Loring Mortuary North on Jul. 2, 2020.
Ian Patrick Smith was born April 17, 2003 in Durham, NC. He went home to be with his Redeemer on July 2, 2020 in New Braunfels, TX at the tender age of 17. Ian enjoyed reading and history, particularly Roman history. He also enjoyed geography and could accurately name and place all 195 countries in the world on a map. He also liked listening to music and traveling. He took several out-of-state trips with his dad to attend pro football games. Ian liked to pull for the underdog so some of his favorite pro sports teams included the Cleveland Browns, the Carolina Panthers, and from basketball, the Philadelphia 76'ers. Another one of his favorite trips was going to Europe last summer to help celebrate his sister Emily graduating from high school. Ian's ultimate favorite thing in the world was his Pug named Mia. She especially loved Ian and chose his bed as her favorite place to sleep at night. Ian was born to Jason and Sharon Smith and older sister Emily and younger brother Rowan. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Larry Smith and Marshall Peterson. He is survived by grandmother Della Peterson of San Antonio, grandparents Tom and Nelda Lockamy of Greensboro, NC, grandmother Diane Tyler Smith of Liberty Hill, TX and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was a beloved son and brother and we cannot imagine our lives without him. Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. I am so very sorry to hear about Ian's early departure. I love the words that say he is now with his Redeemer. And indeed, our Redeemer lives and we will see Ian again in that Kingdom of God that holds no more pain, or suffering, or death. To Diane, Jason and Sharon
Lisa and I want to send our deepest condolences to to you and the kids. No words can be said for such a loss of a fine young man.
The last time i was visiting Larry he was so proud of all his grand kids.
We would compare notes on what they did when they left that was needing repairs, it always brought a smile that only grand parents could joke about.

With heartfelt condolences,
Ralph and Lisa Nannola

Jason, Sharon, Emily and Rowan,
It's been so long since we have seen you when you moved. However, Ella's friend lives in your old house so we think of you when we are over that way. These memories include the boys hanging out with Emily and Audra. So shocked to hear this and my heart just goes out to all of you. God must be calling His family home as I (Beth) lost my best friend a month ago. We know that we will see Ian again and that is the hope we have in Christ. I'm so sorry. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you all.

Ian was the first person at the movies to make me feel like I belonged. He was so easy to talk to and so hardworking and always made a stressful environment feel more calm. We all miss him and will forever keep him in our memories.
