With great sorrow we say goodbye to Ian Joseph Thomas, age 37.
Born September 4, 1986 in Marquette to Joe and Patricia (Guidebeck) Thomas, he was a kind and generous boy. He graduated from St. Christopher Pre-School and wanted to be a 'motorcycle man.' He then attended Marquette Area Public Schools.
Ian was a natural at every sport he played. Ultimately, he loved skateboarding and became a local icon in that community. A wonderful cook, he was employed at several UP restaurants. His most recent passion was tattooing, we have no doubt he would have been one of the best. However, his finest legacy will be his beloved children, Brooklyn and Braelyn Thomas.
In addition to his children, Ian is survived by his parents; siblings: Carissa (Michael Downs), Justin and Daniel (Jackie VanCleve) Thomas; maternal grandmother, Sharon Guidebeck; paternal grandmother, Frieda Eagan; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ian always held a special place in his heart for the Mother of his children, Carly Nelson. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Thomas Guidebeck, Jr. and his paternal grandfather, Robert Thomas.
A private family Celebration of Ian's Life will be held. In closing, we quote Sarah Montgomery, LCSW-C and Joy McCrady, MS, LGPC, NCC – "Just as a period does not define a sentence, the cause of death does not define a person."
