Obituary for Ida Lynn Batey Sunrise: February 20, 1942 Sunset: July 7, 2025
Ida Lynn Batey, age 83, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025. Born on February 20, 1942, she lived a full and vibrant life, marked by her deep love for family, her spirited personality, and her passion for the simple joys of life.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herman Batey; her devoted son, Jimmy Batey; and her cherished grandson, Brandon Batey.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Melynda Sutton, and son-in-law, Carlton Sutton. Ida was a proud grandmother to Brandy Batey, Christopher Sutton, Trudy Parnell, and Cindy Sutton; a great-grandmother to seven; and a great-great-grandmother to three.
She also shared a special bond with her siblings, Ronnie White and Brenda Spangler, with whom she spent the last six years of her life.
Ida retired from Bell South after many years of dedicated service. She enjoyed crafting, traveling, and spending time with her dogs-but above all, she loved being surrounded by her family. Her passion for life was evident in all that she did, and her warmth, wit, and strength will be deeply missed.
Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
