Ida Mae (McQueen) Hammons, of Mason, Ohio, peacefully passed away at the age of 78, surrounded by her loving family on October 10, 2025. Born on January 3, 1947, in Benham, Kentucky, she was the cherished daughter of Arthur Lee and Mattie Elizabeth (McClure) McQueen.
Ida married her beloved husband, Jerry D. Hammons, on November 14, 1965. Together, they built a life filled with love and family. Ida was a devoted mother to her two children, Elizabeth, born in October 1966, and Jerry, born in April 1974. She found great joy and fulfillment in her role as a wife, mother, and homemaker. One of her most treasured roles outside the home was as a cook at Kid-R-Kids, where she shared her love for children for many years.
Ida leaves behind a loving family that includes her husband, Jerry D. Hammons; her daughter, Elizabeth Losekamp, and her son-in-law, Eric; her son, Jerry R. Hammons, and his wife, Amy; and her fur son, JD. She is also survived by her daughter, Cheryl Murphy, and her husband, Joe, and her brothers, Bud McQueen and Gene McQueen. Ida was a proud grandmother to Kelsey Gess, Hana Maloney (and her partner, Andrew), and Jaret Hammons (and his partner, Laura). Additionally, she is survived by many nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.
Ida was predeceased by her parents, Arthur Lee and Mattie Elizabeth McQueen, as well as her brothers: Joe McQueen, Lee Ray McQueen, Harrison McQueen, Jimmy McQueen, and Ralph McQueen. She also mourned the loss of her granddaughter, Ruth “Nikki” Losekamp, and her grandson, Eric Losekamp, known lovingly as Bub.
Her kindness, warmth, and love for family will forever be remembered. Those who knew Ida will carry her spirit with them always.
