Ignacio Arteaga, 69, of Monmouth, IL, passed away at 9:40 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 30, 1954 in Agua Zarca, Jalisco, Mexico, the son of Jose Arteaga and Maria Auxilio Rosales. He was raised and educated in Mexico and graduated from High School.
Ignacio married Josefina Castaneda on April 22, 2017 in Monmouth, IL; and she survives.
Ignacio worked at Smithfield Foods in Monmouth for several years. He enjoyed listening to Christian and Banda music. He was an avid Chicago Bulls fan. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling to Mexico.
Surviving Ignacio is his wife, Josefina Arteaga of Monmouth, IL, two sons, Joseph Arteaga of Monmouth, IL, Wesley (Amy) Arteaga of Monmouth, IL; two daughters, Gisel Arteaga of Monmouth, IL, Monica (Lafayette) Randolph of Monmouth, IL; his grandchildren, Aisha Arteaga-Randolph of Monmouth, IL, “Yanni” Arteaga- Randolph of Monmouth, IL, Kyle Arteaga of New Boston, IL, Bailie Hendricks of Austin, TX, Ada Arteaga of Monmouth, IL. Also surviving are his brothers, Jose Arteaga, Adolfo Arteaga, Chano Arteaga; his sisters, Alta Alanis, Ernestina Sarabia, Concha Arteaga, Trini Arteaga, Bertha Arteaga, Mari Arteaga; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gabriel Arteaga.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Church, Monmouth, IL. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Monmouth, IL. A Rosary Service will be at 4:30 p.m., Monday, June 17, 2024 with visitation to follow from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. Memorials can be made to the Ignacio Arteaga Memorial Fund and can be sent to the funeral home.
