Kentuckians are the best, and Ila was a classic: soft spoken, with that southern charm, courteous and yet curious. Despite losing her husband too young, she just went on living with great determination: going to the movies, reading voraciously, travelling with friends, and taking time for family and grandchildren. We last saw her when she broke her hip in London, securing the best hotel' room in the city overlooking Parliament! It was just part of the adventure for her! (not so much for her daughters, though). What a dear woman!
