ILA LUCILLE SCHOUTEN
Ila Lucille Wood Schouten went to her external home on November 17, 2023. She was born on September 22, 1933, in Camdenton, Missouri, to Roy and Gladys Wood, where Lucille spent many wonderful years, along with her brother, Donald Wood.
Lucille was baptized at an early age in the Baptist faith where she devotedly attended services throughout the years playing the piano, singing, working in Awanas with the children or wherever she was needed to serve the Lord.
Her love for the Lord could only be matched by her childhood sweetheart, Floyd "Bud" Schouten, who she married on June 1, 1951, in Versailles, Missouri, at the old Christian Church. Lucille and Bud were blessed with two children, Vicky and Bob. She loved her family deeply and ran a tight ship at home while Bud proudly served his country.
It's fitting that Lucille's kind and nurturing heart led her into a career for 23 years at the Kidwell and Good Shephard Nursing Homes where she humbly provided the highest quality of care for the elderly.
Lucille firmly believed in serving her community, and since she was never known for sitting still, upon retirement, she spent countless hours volunteering at the Nutrition Center and The Morgan Food Bank. She was also a member of the Senior Citizen Club and proudly served on the board of the Nutrition Site.
When she wasn't serving others or her community, Lucille loved listening to gospel and country music. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and partaking in her many hobbies. You would often find her quilting, embroidering, playing games and crafting. She was also a collector of beautiful glass and angel statues. And Lucille had the most impressive green thumb. She would spend several hours a week gardening resulting in the most impeccable yard admired by all her neighbors.
Lucille is survived by her daughter, Vicky Abolahrari; her son, Bob (Michelle) Schouten; grandchildren, Siroos (Jadea) Abolahrari, Becca (Jed) Jeffries, Taylor (Loren) Lang and Hannah Schouten, who were all a blessing from God; great- granddaughters, Raeya and Amelia Abolahrari and Bailey, Jayla and Aryn Jeffries; geat-grandsons, Kai and Isaiah Lang along with several nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother and son-in-law, Ghasem Abolahrari.
Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home of Versailles. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow directly at Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett, Missouri.
Memorial donations may be made to Food For Morgan County, Versailles Nutrition Site, The Wounded Warrior Project or Family Worship Center.
