WATERBURY- It is with profound sadness that the family of Iluminada “Lily” (Martinez) Correa, age 82, of Waterbury, shares the news of her peaceful passing on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Saint Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Iluminada was born on October 04, 1943, in Utuado, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Manuel Martinez and Lydia Villanueva. She attended local schools and worked for many years at Waterbury Neck and Tie. Throughout her life, Iluminada embraced her Puerto Rican heritage and instilled its values in her family. She spent many happy moments cooking for her loved ones and sharing her passion for crafts, which included sewing and coloring all the while routing for her NY Yankees. A dedicated parishioner of both St. Cecilia's and Sagrado Corazon, Iluminada found great joy in her faith, but nothing was more important to her than time spent with her family and friends.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her daughter, Marisol Correa, her son, Julio Correa and his wife Luz; her beloved grandchildren, Jahida, Monica, Taisha, Erica, Evalissa, Veronica, Shanice, Kassandra, Brandyn, and Lucas; and many great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother, Domingo Martinez, her sister, Ramonita Martinez, and niece Maribel Lagares along with extended family and friends. Iluminada was predeceased by her daughter, Sandra Correa, and her brother, Wilfredo Ramos.
Funeral services for Mrs. Correa will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 12:30 p.m. from Casey’s Eastside Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Care 1987 East Main St Waterbury to the Shrine of Saint Anne at All Saints-Todos Los Santos Parish, 515 S Main St, Waterbury, CT 06706 to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Relatives and friends may pay their respects and visit with the Correa family on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. until the procession leaves for church services at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Iluminada’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org/donate.
