Casey's Eastside Memorial Funeral Home & Cremation Care - WaterburyWATERBURY- It is with profound sadness that the family of Dana Shirley (Vining) Coffill, age 74, of Waterbury, shares the news of her peaceful passing in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love of her family after an extended illness on Saturday, November 29th, 2025.
Dana was born March 3rd 1951 in Boston MA, the daughter of the late Warren and Priscilla (Carstensen) Vining. Dana grew up in Melrose, Massachusetts, where she cultivated a deep-rooted passion for life and a profound connection to her community. She dedicated many years to working as an administrative assistant, with her most recent position at Light House Christian Academy. There, Dana was more than just an administrator—she was a steadfast supporter of every child and educator, always striving to ensure they had what they needed to thrive. Her devotion extended beyond her professional life; Dana was a beloved member of her church community, where she volunteered tirelessly for several ministry outreach programs, including Kairos Prison Ministry. For over 20 years, she helped run her neighborhood's Adopt-a-Block program, demonstrating her selfless spirit and desire to uplift others. A true New Englander at heart, Dana cherished the summertime, relishing the warm days spent at the beach. An avid fan of the New England Patriots, she embraced every opportunity to cheer for her team, echoing her strong Boston roots. Dana's life was a tapestry woven with faith, family, and compassionate service to others. In celebrating the life of Dana Shirley Coffill, we remember her joyful spirit, her boundless love for her family and faith, and her enduring commitment to making the world a better place. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew her, and may we carry her legacy of kindness and service forward in our own lives.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her memory are her children, Jarrod Coffill and his wife Gretchen of Waterbury, Kelly Francis Coffill and his wife Angela of Thomaston, her brother; Christopher Vining and his partner Judy Brasseur of North Andover, MA, her sisters; Barbara Wells and her husband David, of Reading, MA, and Pamela Ducharme of Plymouth, CT. She also leaves her grandchildren, Nicholas Coffil, James and Shannon Wallace, Warren and Gavin Coffil, and Eric and Alexus Caban and Ashley Keohan. In addition, she also leaves her great-grandchildren, Harper, Hadley, Brady, and Weston and her nieces and nephews, Samantha, Justin, Jason, Bentley, and Kendall, as well as her devoted rescued fur baby, Molly, who was a constant companion. She was predeceased by her niece, Ashley.
