Iluminada Torrado

Iluminada "Lucy" Torrado, passed away on January 24, 2024, at Silver Cross Hospital.
Lucy was born July 30, 1941, to Alejandro Perez and Gregoria Richard. She grew up in Hatillo, Puerto Rico until 1953, when she moved to Brooklyn, New York.
In 1961, she met and married the love of her life, Andres Torrado, who died in 2007.
Lucy is survived by her 2 daughters, Maribel Torrado and Myra Dominguez. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Noel Ortiz, Luis Ortiz, Edemirol Ortiz, Amanda Ortiz, Hector Dominguez, Melissa Dominguez, Bryan Dominguez and Dana Dominguez. She was blessed to have known all 20 great-grandchildren: Jocelyn Ortiz, Jacquelyn Ortiz, Joel Ortiz, Noel Ortiz, Isaiah Ortiz, Ichaylee Ortiz, Kelis Ortiz, Mavis Ortiz, Laisha Ortiz, Alishani Crespo, Janiyah Ortiz, Nova Ortiz, Leilani Cardona, Zoraya Cardona, Sincere Cardona and Great-Grandson to be, Hector Dominguez Jr, Ariel Dominguez, Hailey Campbell and Marcel Denham. Lucy was also able to meet her 1st great-great-granddaughter Avianna Ortiz.
Lucy retired as a Food Inspector from Sky Chief and she also retired from the City of Chicago. She was a member of the Seed of Abraham Christian Fellowship Church where she was honored as a mother of the church.
Lucy was fortunate to travel some, getting to see parts of the world that she never imagined she would see, even being baptized in the Jordan River in Jerusalem. She loved dancing and watching movies and novelas with her family. Until just a few years ago, she was the life of the party, dancing the night away. She enjoyed being on vacation, shopping and going to the mall, but more than anything she loved being with her family. Her daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granddaughter were the joys of her life. If you knew Lucy, you were blessed and loved.
A graveside service will be held Friday, February 2, 2024, at Elm Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, 401 E. Lake St., Elmhurst, IL 60126, with her son-in-law Miguel Dominguez officiating.
The family would like to extend special thanks to all the staff of Silver Cross Hospital for the loving care given to Lucy.
