Inez Daniel Dugger, affectionally known as “Mama Nez” was born in Perry, GA on December 18, 1930, to the late Gilbert and Carrie Lee Minnifield Daniel. She was one of nine children.
Inez attended school in Perry, GA. She was a 1948 graduate of Houston County Training School.
On October 8, 1947, Inez entered into matrimony with the late James Dugger Jr, the love of her life. From this blessed union, they were graced with three sons: Gene, James (Jimmy), and Stacy. Inez's unwavering devotion extended beyond her role as a wife and mother to encompass that of a grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, advisor, and adopted mother to many.
From a young age, Inez was raised in a family deeply devoted to their faith. Going to church was a regular part of her life, and as she grew older, she decided to fully commit herself to Christ. For many years, she was an active member of New Hope Baptist Church in Perry, GA attending church regularly as well as Sunday School. She also participated in weekly Bible Study at Shiloh Baptist Church in Fort Valley, GA. In addition to her involvement with the Senior Usher Board, R and A Bible Class, and the Love, Care, and Share Ministry, Inez was passionate about her faith and service to the church community.
Throughout her life, Inez exhibited a strong desire to work, beginning at the young age of 8. She dedicated over 50 years to working as a domestic worker, and her genuine love for people, generosity, and uplifting spirit endeared her to those she served. In addition to her employment, she was also a successful self-employed baker, delighting family and friends with her special cakes and butter rolls. Additionally, Inez was deeply involved in supporting various community service organizations, earning her several accolades, including the Citizen Education Commission’s (CEC) Leadership Award, the CEC Annual Houston Stallworth Award, and Certificate of Appreciation Awards for her engagement and support of local church ministries.
Inez Daniel Dugger peacefully transitioned on the morning of May 14, 2024, at the Atrium Health Navicent Medical Center.
Preceding Inez in death were her parents (Mr. Gilbert Daniel Sr. and Carrie Lee Killen Daniel Minniefield ); Siblings: Julia Gilliard, Gilbert Daniel Jr., Carrie Lee D. King Nobles (Charlie), Thelma D. Jones (Nathaniel), Lillian Laidler, Rogers Daniel Sr., and Lonnie Daniel. She leaves to cherish her memory: 3 loving sons, Gene Dugger, Dallas, GA; James E.
