Inge Colibert Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jenkins-Soffe Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center - South Jordan on Mar. 24, 2025.
Our beloved Mom, Grandma and Oma, Returned to the loving arms of her Heavenly Father on March 18, 2025, at the age of 90. Mom was born in Hamburg, Germany on February 1, 1935, to Heinrich and Aloysia Koos Wagner. Her childhood was spent in Germany where she lived wither parents and twin foster brothers.
Mom did not grow up rich or during the easiest of times, but from the stories she told you would never know it. Mom loved her childhood, she loved everything about school and could not get enough of learning, and she especially loved reading. She spoke often of the wonderful time spent with family doing gardening, bike riding to church and trips to Sweden to visit family. She graduated Business College in Hamburg, Germany in 1952, in 1953 she decided to further her education and come to the States, her parents followed a year later.
My Mom met my Dad, Floyd A Colibert, after arriving in the states and later married in 1955. They started their lives in Wichita, Kansas. Later moving to Salt Lake City where they started their family and raised their two children. They later divorced. Inge graduated from LDS Business College and began her career as a secretary. She loved everything about office work and had an impeccable work ethic. She worked for Walker Bank, Granite School District, several law firms and a few small local businesses. She later served an LDS mission. Mom was able to go back to Germany to her home country to serve in the Berlin Mission. This was such a blessing for her as she had not been back since she left in 1953, at the age of 18.
Mom is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved God and the gospel and set a wonderful example for her family. She served in many callings, but the one closest to her heart was teaching the young children in primary, she was blessed with this calling for 7 years, she also served as a temple worker, and she was blessed to serve in the Salt Lake, Jordan River and Oquirrh Mountain Temples. She taught Relief Society this was very challenging for her but, she loved it.
Some of my mom's greatest joys were her two children David & Wendy, and then later her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she loved them all unconditionally and with all her heart.
Inge is survived by her daughter Wendy (Ray), grandsons Andrew (Courtney), Tyler (Jessica), Joshua (Jessica), Colby (Jennica) and 17 great-grandchildren, and close family members in Adelaide, South Australia and Gothenburg, Sweden.
Inge was preceded in death by her parents Heinrich Wagner, Aloysia Koos Wagner, brother Ulrich Enno Wagner, twin foster brothers Willi and Franz Stach, son David John Colibert, grandson Mathew Ray Metz, great-granddaughter Kloie Lynn Metz, and close family friend Nicholas Knowlton.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at 11:00 am at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley Chapel located at 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway. Viewing will be held 10:00-10:45am prior. Interment will be at Salt Lake City Cemetery.

My husband and I got to know Sister Inge when we served as a support couple in her Park Avenue Branch.
Inge was quiet but had such a warm smile and friendly way about her that she was someone you wanted to know.
I admired how far she used to go when walking her dogs and how consistent she was no matter the season.
Inge always contributed thoughtful comments to church lessons and conversations. She taught Relief Society lessons straight from her pure heart and it was always evident how much diligent study and fervent prayer she put into preparing because you could feel the Spirit.
We are truly blessed to have known you Inge and we miss you but we know you are happy and busy and so dearly loved by your Savior.
