Ingrid Torres Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Parsell Funeral Homes-Atkins-Lodge Chapel - Lewes on Dec. 19, 2025.
Ingrid lived every moment with adventure, kindness, determination, and love. Coming from a modest household, she and her sister were raised by their mother after her father passed away when she was three years old. She loved her name, as it was given to her by her father-a gift that is part of her always. Even from a young age, Ingrid loved music and learned to especially love classical music from her aunt and grandparents. She excelled in school and, after high school, went on to pharmacy school.

She met the love of her life while living in Heilbronn, where Joe Torres was stationed in the U.S. Army. She put up every roadblock, but destiny and Joe's determination prevailed, and the love story began. They married within two years of their first encounter. Bravely, Ingrid soon found herself traveling with her newborn son to the U.S. by herself, as Joe had to finish his military duty. She landed in Philadelphia and was greeted by a mother, father, and brother-in-law she hadn't met yet. She was immediately loved by the Torres family. Joe and Ingrid purchased their first home, and soon afterward their family grew with the addition of their son, Steffen.

She loved her family-no matter how extended-and enjoyed time with all of them. She enjoyed nature, reading, and traveling-especially the Caribbean and trips to Europe, her favorite being Malcesine. She loved listening to music, from opera to ABBA, and hosting events filled with cheer and love, especially around the holidays in Chadds Ford, New Year's Eve celebrations, and Super Bowl parties at the beach, or simply being with family and friends. Though far away, she always had time for long conversations with her sister to share memories of their childhood in Germany and to keep each other informed about what was going on in their lives.

Ingrid is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Joe; her sons, Ezio and Steffen; her sister, Brigitte Dyer; and nephews John and his family (wife Bridget and their sons, Chace and Cheyne) and Tilo. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Aldo and sister-in-law Nancy; nephew Ezio Michael and his wife, Ellie, along with their children, Emily, Aldo Gabriel, and Abigail; and nephew Ezio J. She is predeceased by her mother and father, Emil and Else Eicher; her mother- and father-in-law, Ignazio and Rosalia Torres; her nephew, Marc Cunningham; and her brother- and sister-in-law, Gino and Phyllis Torres. She is now with all of her beloved friends and family who predeceased her-especially two people she particularly admired: her grandmother, Magdalene, and her mother-in-law, Rosalia.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Edmond Catholic Church, 409 King Charles Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00 a.m. Chapel committal and entombment will follow on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.
