Iona King Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory - Bartlesville on Mar. 4, 2026.
Iona Jean King, affectionately known as "Jean" to her family and friends, passed away peacefully in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on February 28, 2026, at the age of 94.

Jean was born on October 27, 1931, in Egypt, Arkansas, to John Harmous Locke and Vera Aubrey Kirby Locke, spending her formative years in Cash, Arkansas.

After graduating high school, she married Thomas R. "Rusty" King Jr and began a journey that eventually brought them to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where she resided for the next 71 years. She built a life centered on family and community service.

Jean was a woman who believed in giving back. Her commitment to her community was evident through her extensive volunteer work. She was an extremely involved member of the Washington County Home Extension, where she held various leadership offices over the years. Her passion for service also led her to the Salvation Army, where she held multiple offices, and the Bartlesville Hospital Auxiliary, where she served as a faithful volunteer for many years. Jean was the kind of person who didn't just join an organization, she led it with heart and dedication.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rusty, and her parents, John and Vera Locke.

Jean is survived by her two sons, Tom King and his wife Jill, and John King and his wife Patti; Her brother Gary Locke and his wife Becky, and sister Donna Morris. Her legacy of kindness and strength lives on through her four grandchildren Jeffrey (Heather) King, Ryan (Brittany) King, Eric (Michelle) King, Matt Hinckley and seven great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her later years.
