Ira Fleischman Obituary
Ira M. Fleischman, DDS, age 89, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy "Dodie" (née Meyers); devoted life partner of Judy Hara; loving father of Shelley (Larry) Stern, Jami (Gene Hara) Brenner, Steven Fleischman, and Annie (Dave Citterman) Soffer; and a cherished second father to Sherry (David) Israel, Lorne Hara, and Wendy (Jeff) Wilk; dear father-in-law to Brad Brenner; adored "Papa" of Field (Jenny) Stern, Chase (Tifanie) Stern, Cole (Kate) Stern, Kyle (Courtney) Brenner, Cort (Lauren) Brenner, Parker Hara, Bailey Hara, Landon Soffer, and Drew (Dan) Soffer, and the late Blaine Brenner; a beloved second grandfather to 11 grandchildren; and a treasured great-grandfather to Coral, Ryder, Summer, Cash, Kenzie, Cruz, Madelyn and Marshall; much-loved brother of Howard (Leslie) Fleischman and the late Seymour (Judi) Fleischman; a cherished uncle, great-uncle, and a dear friend to many. Dr. Fleischman grew up in Chicago's Albany Park neighborhood; attended Von Steuben High School, was an alumnus of the University of Illinois Champaign, and the University of Illinois Chicago College of Dentistry. He maintained a private dental practice in Chicago for 60 years, retiring during the COVID pandemic. A dedicated professional and a devoted family man, Ira was also a passionate lover of the arts. During retirement, he enjoyed attending the theater, symphony, and Ravinia. He curated an impressive art collection, possessed an extensive music library, and was well known for his impeccable sense of style-always dressing to the nines. Ira had a presence that never went unnoticed. Truly, to know him was to love him. Ira will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.
