Lorraine Bourbon Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson Spring Grove Funeral Home on Jan. 28, 2026.
Lorraine N. Bourbon, age 100, of Fox Lake, a long-time resident of Leisure Village, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, hands held tight in love. Lorraine was born on March 3, 1925, the only child of Russell and Esther (Clark) Nebrich. She was a graduate of Von Steuben High School, Class of 1943.
Lorraine was an independent soul who lived a long, full, and active life, never letting grass grow under her feet. A woman of incredible faith, she was a long-time and devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church in Richmond, where her faith guided her life and relationships and remained a constant source of strength throughout her 100 years. After being single for many years, she met the love of her life, Raymond J. Bourbon, beginning a beautiful marriage filled with adventure and devotion. She loved to travel with Ray always by her side. Together, they journeyed by both land and sea, enjoyed boating on the Chain O' Lakes, and took great pride in pulling their Grandchildren behind their boat. During the winter months, they would escape the cold and snow to Fort Myers, Florida. Always on the go, Lorraine was an avid bowler and a proud member of a bowling league that traveled annually to compete all over the country. The fun continued weekly with pinochle and poker games, along with countless Leisure Village bus trips with friends to play the nickel slots at Bernie's On The Go. She loved golfing on the course in Leisure Village and swimming in the summer, never missing a morning exercise class.
Lorraine was also a wonderful dancer who could "cut a rug" like no other. Age never slowed her down, a fact she joyfully proved by dancing with ease and happiness at her 100th birthday celebration. Her accomplishments were many, living independently in her own home, driving until the age of 97, and sharing an intense love for animals, especially cats. She never forgot to care for the birds, always making sure they were fed. Luv was always learning new things and was texting and even joined Instagram to keep up with her Grandchildren.
Equally legendary was Lorraine's Brandy Manhattan cocktail, always served with a side of cherry juice. Through her incredible 100 years of life, the most important thing to Lorraine was always her family. Her love for them was unconditional, fierce, and immeasurable. She was affectionately known to them as "Luv." Their fondest memories will forever include making Luv laugh and her infectious giggle.
