Ira Wayne Hart Jr

Ira Wayne Hart Jr., known to family and friends as Wayne or Hollywood, passed away on March 28, 2026, in Newnan, Georgia, at the age of 75.

Wayne was born on February 7, 1951, in LaGrange, Georgia, to the late Ira and Dot Hart. He was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Hart.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 54 years, Linda Hart; his son, Joey Hart (Carla), daughter Jenny Langley (Shawn), his beloved granddaughter Lucy Marie Hart and his dog Barley. He is also survived by sister in laws and brother in laws, Debbie and Randy Lynch, Mike and Brenda Brown, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends who will cherish his memory.

Wayne devoted a meaningful part of his life to public service. He served as a Troup County Sheriff's Deputy and later retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections. In both roles, he carried himself with professionalism and a strong sense of duty. He understood responsibility, respected structure, was committed to serving his community and believed in doing his part to support the safety and well-being of others.

Outside of his career, Wayne had a lifelong interest in Amateur HAM Radio and was an HAM Radio Operator, Extra Class.

Family will receive visitors on Tuesday March 31st from 2PM-7PM as well as after the graveside service at the home of Wayne's son, Joey.

The service will be Wednesday April 1st, 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM, followed by graveside at 5:00 PM at Shadowlawn Cemetery. Flowers are accepted, or donations can be made in memory of Wayne Hart to The Troup County Humane Society or The American Cancer Society. The donation links are below.
