Ira Ramey Obituary
Ira Kenneth Ramey, 78, of Church Hill, left his earthly home on September 26, 2023. He liked tinkering on his truck and loved mowing his yard. In his younger days, Ira enjoyed spending time on the lake, camping, and fishing. Ira was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Effie Ramey; eight brothers, Howe, Carl, Gene, Milton, Robert, Jake, Jim, and Willard; two sisters, Ruby Hagy and Linda Atkins; and grandson, Asher Shanks; and several nieces and nephews.
Ira is survived by his children, Brandon Ramey and wife Stephanie, Kristen Ramey, Andrea Shanks and husband Chris, Dina, Jerry, and Stephanie; grandchildren, Kera Walker and husband Jake, Tanner Ramey and fiancé Hannah, Hannah Shanks, Aiden Ramey, Jacob Shanks, Leah Shanks, John Shanks, Landon Ramey, and several others; great-grandchildren, Houston Ramey and several others; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2023, at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. The funeral service will follow with Chris Shanks officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Ross Campground Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Aiden Ramey, Jacob Shanks, Tanner Ramey, Chris Shanks, Mark Dunn, Jordan Shanks, and Ace Mayes.
