IRA SEBASTIAN YOUNG entered eternal rest and peace on Friday, March 13, 2026 at 108 Merchant Street, in Blackstone, Virginia. He was 72 years old.

Ira (affectionately called Rudy) was born October 19, 1953 to Robert C. Young, Sr. and Gladys P. Hatchett in Blackstone, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by parents Robert and Gladys Young, bonus mother Anice Banks, brothers Terrence Young, Jon Young, and Robert Young, Jr..

Ira began his education in Nottoway County Schools, left Virginia at an early age and graduated from Marshal High School in Chicago. After graduating he served a short period of time in the United States Marine Corps and returned to Chicago where he lived for many years. There he found employment with several established businesses, finally returning home to Blackstone in the year 2012.

Ira enjoyed life, fishing, cooking on the grill, playing card games, dominoes, western movies/shows and spending time with family and friends.

Ira leaves to cherish his memories: Beloved Partner Gail Harvey of Blackstone, Virginia; Ira Jr. of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; Tanari Kimble (Anthony) of Osceola, Indiana (mother Deborah Young, deceased); Joseph McKelvy, Chicago, Illinois (mother Deborah M. deceased); Irin Armour, Chicago, Illinois (mother Apostle Arnetta Salazar); Avery Young, Chicago, Illinois (mother Annette, deceased), and bonus son James (Dart) Harvey, Blackstone, Virginia (mother Gail Harvey); seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; sisters and brothers Hollie Hudson, Jamaica, New York; Geri Bell (Calvin) Lewisville, North Carolina; Michael Young, Woodbridge, Virginia; Jackie Young, Richmond Virginia; Frederick Young (Stacey Blackwell), Blackstone, Virginia; a host of nieces and nephews special nephews, Jason, Twan, Bobby, and Darrick and special nieces, Erica and Ina; longtime friend Gregory Wilkerson, Chicago, Illinois and Cousin Leonard Wallace, Blackstone, Virginia, and a host of other family and friends.
