Maggie Dagner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by W E Hawkes & Son Funeral Home - Blackstone on Mar. 4, 2026.
Maggie Dagner, surrounded by her loving family at her residence in Blackstone, VA, peacefully answered the Master's call on February 25, 2026 at approximately 5:15 PM, when the trumpet sounded and she gently placed her hand in God's unchanging hand. Her spirit transitioned from this earthly tabernacle into eternal rest, awaiting the glorious resurrection promised to all who believe. On March 16, 1952, Maggie was born to Robert Dagner, Sr., and Jessie Dagner.

She received her education in Nottoway County. At an early age, Maggie confessed her faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized at Cellar Creek Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Robert Dagner, Sr., and Jessie Dagner; her cherished daughter, Kim Dagner; three sisters, Laura Mae Johnson, Caroline Dagner, and Jacqueline Dagner; two brothers, Robert Dagner, Jr., and William Dagner; one great-grandson, Jibril Utsey; and one nephew, Edward Dagner.

Maggie was known as being a great seamstress, and was employed at Levi Strauss and Company, Curtis & Winnie Sewing, and Reiss Manufacturing.

Maggie found great joy in loving and nurturing her family. She delighted in reading, sewing, sharing laughter through her warm sense of humor, listening to music, and extending a helping hand wherever there was a need. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, infectious laughter, servant's heart, and steadfast devotion to family and close friends.

She leaves to cherish her precious and loving memories: one devoted son, Kendrick Dagner of Blackstone, VA; two grandsons, DaQuan Dagner and Demarcus Dagner of Blackstone, VA; three granddaughters, Da'Sha Dagner of Blackstone, VA, Dedric Dagner of Blackstone, VA and Dyesha Dagner of South Hill, VA; one great granddaughter, Eva Dagner of Blackstone, VA; one great grandson, Hasier Hawkes of South Hill, VA; one brother, Franklin (Dena) of St. Louis, MO; one uncle, Gussie Dagner, Sr., of Blackstone, VA; two devoted nieces, Keisha Jones and Wilma Hardy of Blackstone, VA; special friends, Edna Daniel and Nicole Jefferson of Blackstone, VA; along with a host of other relatives and dear friends.
