Mrs. Irea Haney Staton, 87 of Morehead, Kentucky passed away Saturday evening, November 11, 2023 at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead after an extended illness.
She was born November 20, 1935 in Morgan County, Kentucky to the late Perry and Mayme Lewis Haney.
Mrs. Staton was of the Church of God faith and enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, growing flowers and raising a garden.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Alvin O. Staton, Sr. who passed away in 1995, her son, Alvin O. Staton, Jr. who passed away in 2006 and her daughter, Teresa Staton Donahue who passed away in 2019. Additionally, she had two brothers; Ray Haney and Elmo Laverne Haney as well as four sisters: Darlene Sergent, Bearl Pettit, Maxine Stacy and Roberta Suder who preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Roger Staton and his wife, Shiela of Clearfield, Kentucky, six grandchildren, Stacy (Berlin) Brown, Kara Donahue, Josh Donahue, Billy Donahue, Gary (Jennifer) Strange and Nicole (Michael) Simmons, seven great-grandchildren, Tyler Price, Chase Donahue, Kaiden Donahue, Mason Donahue, Brittany Strange, Braylon Strange and Hannah Patrick, one great-great-grandchild, Graysen Higginbotham and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 15, 2023 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Jeff Fannin officiating.
She will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Clearfield Cemetery.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday.
Pall bearers will be Phillip Hollan, Jimmy Roberts, Mark Law, Roy Price, Mike Simmons and Gary Strange.
