Irena Shemkus Obituary

Irena was formerly from Oxon Hill, Maryland and Maysville, Kentucky. She attended the Washington Central Church in Washington, Kentucky.
She is survived by her siblings Fran Light, Juanita Nelting, Donna Richter (Paul) and David Prine (Lois), her stepson Pete Shemkus, many nieces and nephews and several friends.
Irena donated her body to the University of Cincinnati and will be buried at the Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Children of the Night, Operation Smile, the Children's Home in West Union, Ohio or to The Salvation Army.
Irena will be remembered as a generous lady who gave to others and had a special place in her heart for children and animals.
