Irene A. Arruda

Irene A. Arruda, 90, of Tiverton, RI, died Sunday at St. Anne's Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Manuel Arruda.

Born in Fall River, MA, a daughter of the late John H. and the late Angelina (Berube) Peterson, she resided in Tiverton for most of her life.

Mrs. Arruda worked as a supervisor at Bedford Manufacturing for many years until her retirement. She later worked at Floral Fashions as a sewing machine operator.

She was a member of Holy Ghost Church.

Mrs. Arruda enjoyed cross word puzzles, collecting key chains and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by three daughters, Pauline Gagnon and Barbara Santos, both of Fall River and Jeanne Rainey of South Carolina; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Herbert H. Peterson and the grandmother of the late Wendy Hughes and Deborah Rossi.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8 a.m. from the OLIVEIRA FUNERAL HOME, 2064 South Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Holy Ghost Church, Judson St. Tiverton. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery.
