Irene CLISE Obituary

March 5, 1940 - February 5, 2025

Olympia - Irene Lillian (Sherwood) Clise, 84, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward (Guy) and Lillian Sherwood; her brother, Edward (Eddie) Sherwood; and her husband, Donald M. Clise. She is survived by her children, John (Cheri) Francis, Greg (Lisa) Francis, and Melissa (David) Shearer; as well as stepsons, Don (Reiko) Clise Jr. and David Clise; and numerous cherished grandchildren.

Born in Spokane, Washington, on March 5, 1940, Irene is a graduate from both North Central High School (1957) and Eastern Washington University. Passionate about education, she impacted thousands of lives as a teacher and librarian.

She married Leslie J. Francis in 1961, and together they raised three children. Though she and Les divorced in 1978, they remained lifelong friends.

Irene moved to Olympia, Washington, in 1978 and in 1982, she married Don Clise, embracing his sons as her own. Don and Irene loved to travel by RV and visited multiple must-see locations together.

A passionate gardener, Irene found joy in tending her yard, enjoying the beauty of nature. She also loved preserving family memories and found joy in scrapbooking and quilting. Irene's warmth, kindness, and generosity will be deeply missed.

A celebration of her life will be held on March 7, 2025, at 2 p.m., at Funeral Alternatives in Tumwater, Washington, followed by a reception to share memories.
