Irene Honora Desaulnier

Uncasville - Irene Honora (Laroche) Desaulnier, at the age of 100 passed away Aug. 7, 2025, after three weeks at St. Joseph's Living Center, Windham. She was born Jan. 16, 1925 in Ballouville,and was the daughter of the late Mathias Laroche and Elmira Beaulac.

She married Wilfred Eugene Desaulnier Sr. May 30, 1942 at St. James Church in Danielson. She was predeceased by her husband; son Robert; daughter-in-law Claudette; grandson Scott; and sister Doris Rainey. She is survived by her sons, Wilfred Desaulnier Jr. of Enfield, and Paul (Patricia) Desaulnier of Moosup; her daughters, Michelle (Thomas) Racicot of New London, and Anne Holmes of Ellington; daughter-in-law Bonnie (Jim) Anderson of Waterford; her 12 grandchildren: Marc (Cathy Lafleche) Desaulnier, Carl (Carol Waterman) Desaulnier, Louis (Heather) Racicot, Thomas (Brooke) Racicot Jr., Richard (Karin Cyr) Desaulnier, Eric Desaulnier, Crystal (David) Thomas, Danielle (Joshua) Rondeau, Shannon (Kevin) Fink, Ryan (Kellie Clancy) Stamm and Kelli Stamm; her 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons; her two brothers, Odillon (Jeanne) Laroche of Alburg, Vt., and Julien Laroche of Danielson. Irene is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins and their families.

Irene made an impact on everyone's life that she met. Her greatest source of pride was her family. Her culinary skills were special to all whoever had the privilege of sitting at her table. She loved gardening, sewing, crocheting, knitting and doing picture puzzles. Irene worked at American Thread Company, LaRosa, Grants, Zepco and the Thermos Corp. She will be dearly missed for her hard work ethic and devotion to her family leaving many cherished memories.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the many caregivers for their loving care provided to Irene in her home during the past few years.

The family will receive family and friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 17, at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Services Inc., 11 Jerome Road, Uncasville. A Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 18, at St. John's Church, 22 Maple Avenue, Uncasville. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
