Irene Carr Eplin, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away on November 3, 2025, surrounded by her devoted husband Jimmy and her Pastor, Bishop Ron Duncan at Wellington Place. Born on November 22, 1954, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, Irene led a life characterized by love, nurturing, and a dedication to her family and work.
Throughout her career, Irene found fulfillment working as an Inspector in the textiles industry. Her attention to detail and commitment to quality reflected her personality—she was meticulous and caring in every aspect of her life. Beyond her professional achievements, Irene was a woman of warmth and compassion. Her loved ones remember her as a loving and caring person who always had a smile to share and a listening ear to lend. Irene was a Covenant - lifelong member of The Place Church, she loved her church family.
Irene shared almost 30 beautiful years with her husband, Jimmy Eplin. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership, creating a home filled with laughter and cherished memories. Irene’s beautiful spirit continues to live on through their daughter, Linda Kay Hagans, and her grandchildren, Jerry Lee Hagans, Jose Mae, Sage Dipietro and Devan Hagans; stepson, Steven Eplin (Robin) and their children, Piper, Mason, Harlow, Ellie. Each of them carries a piece of her heart, and her legacy will undoubtedly influence their lives for generations to come.
A woman of simple joys, Irene relished spending her time working on crossword puzzles and indulging in her favorite Lifetime movies. These small pleasures reflected her appreciation for life's little moments, which she embraced fully.
Irene is preceded in death by her mother and father, Carroll and Rosa Carr, and a son, Michael Hagans, a brother, Andy Carr who will forever remain in the hearts of those she left behind.
Her passing leaves a profound void in the lives of her family and many friends, but they take solace in the love they shared and the memories they created together.
To honor her life and the joy she brought to so many, a Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 5:00 PM , Sunday at The Place Church located at 2650 Union Road, Gastonia, NC 28054.
