Irene A. Hansen

Visitation with the family of Irene A. Hansen, age 97, of Stanton, Nebraska will be Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., at Home for Funerals Chapel, 708 Georgia Avenue in Norfolk. Burial will be at a later date in Tilden City Cemetery.

Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.

Irene passed away Monday, December 22, 2025, at Stanton Health Center.

Irene Amalie Hansen was born January 14, 1928, in Wisner, Nebraska, the second daughter and ninth of twelve children born to George and Martha (Lawniczak) Grashorn.

Irene married Leonard Yosten on November 20, 1947. The couple divorced in 1972.

On August 10, 1974, Irene married Lloyd "Doc" Hansen in Tilden.

Irene worked as a dental technician at Wells Dental Lab in Norfolk. She also worked for years at Mary's Café and Hesteds.

She enjoyed bowling, camping, and fishing. Irene played fast-pitch softball for years as a pitcher for the Norfolk Jets and the Norfolk Prairie Maid teams before being inducted into the Nebraska Hall of Fame in 1992.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd (2000); son, George (1995); nine brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Robert) Armstrong of Winlock, WA, Carol (Kevin) Neumiller of Naper, NE, Clyde (Barb) Yosten of Norfolk, Lori Sohl of Lincoln, and Michele Yosten of Winlock, WA; twelve grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Eucker of Madison; sister-in-law; Karen Grashorn of Stanton, IA; and nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the care team at the Stanton Health Center and the Hospice team for the excellent care and kindness they showed to their mom and family.
