Irene Marie Henning

Irene Marie Henning was born on November 25, 1946, to Stanley John Peck and Sophie Rita Czachur. She grew up in Dupont, PA, and graduated from Northeast High School in Duryea, PA.

After high school, Irene completed a civil service application and secured a position at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Yearning to be closer to her family, she later returned home and began working at Tobyhanna Army Depot. It was there that she formed a lifelong friendship with Elizabeth Henning, who would later become her sister-in-law.

On August 31, 1973, Irene married the love of her life, Willard Henning. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with two children, Dawn Marie and Gregory Willard. Irene and Willard shared 52 wonderful years of marriage.

In addition to being a loving and devoted wife and mother, Irene played a central role in the operation of the family business, County Ski Line Rental for over 40 years. She also worked for approximately 20 years at The Bon-Ton department store in Stroudsburg.

Irene was known by all who met her as a compassionate peacemaker who always put others before herself. She found joy in gardening, birdwatching, and most especially, caring for her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

After a long illness, Irene went to be with the Lord on February 10, 2026. She was surrounded by her children and grandchildren, Gregory Ryan and Jesse Clark.

In addition to her husband, Willard, she is survived by her daughter, Dawn Hilaire and her husband Pierre; her son, Gregory Henning and his significant-other, Kristen Blum, and her children, Arianna and Brenna; two brothers, Stanley Peck and his wife Karen, Thomas Peck; three sisters, Andrea Smihosky and her husband Paul, Bernadine Keiner, Linda Peck; six grandchildren, Patrick Hilaire, Adam Hilaire, Alyssa McVaugh, Gregory Henning, Jesse Henning, Logan Henning; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Katcavage, Elizabeth DeBiase and her husband James; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Henning; and many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a grandson, Christian Hilaire, a sister, Catherine Dietrick, a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Henning, and two brothers-in-law, George Henning, and Charles Katcavage.

A Celebration of Life memorial gathering will be held on a later date at the convenience of the family.

The Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville, has been entrusted with the arrangements.
