Irene Janette Kessing

A much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter and sister, Irene Janette Kessing, of West Hartford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at her home on Henley Way, West Hartford, Feb 26, 2026, 4 days short of age 94. She will be reunited with late husband Henry and first born daughter Linda, along with brothers and sisters.

She was born on 3/3/1932 in Jakarta, Indonesia to the late Hank Ogilvie and Sofie Blaauw. After avoiding turmoil in Indonesia, Irene moved to Rotterdam, The Netherlands in the early 60's for 10 years followed by a move to Brasschaat, Belgium for an additional 10 years. An Atlantic crossing to the United States landed her in Fairfield CT, Houston TX, Fort Myers FL, and eventually West Hartford CT.

She was a loving wife devoted to her family. Strong minded and determined, she tackled the recovery of a stroke. She was a great cook although she would say she hated cooking. A good soccer game or a tennis match would always be welcomed but nothing would made her smile brighter than having a grandbaby on her lap.

Irene is survived by her children Bunny & husband Bruno Dens, Shaddy Kessing, Rowdy Kessing and wife Nancy. Grand children Kimberly (& Dennis), Michael (& Hannah), Nathalie (& Christophe), Christophe (& Dhana), Eli (& Rachel), Noam (& Missy), Jennifer (& Marty), Joey (& Anna), Jon (& Liz), Sydney (& Dom), Harrison (& Bri). She is also survived by her great grandchildren Manou, Louis, Evelyn, Margot, Maxime, Charlotte, Noa, Anais, Nio, Josephine, Lucy, Anna, JD, Nina, Vincent, Elle, Jonny, Henry, and Peanut.
