Irene L. McMahon

1964 - 2025

Irene Louis McMahon, 61 of Pittsfield, passed away October 26, 2025 at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on January 7, 1964, she was the daughter of Theodore and Verna (Lapp) Ziemlak, she was a 1982 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

She married William F. McMahon on October 15, 1983. He predeceased her on October 12, 2016.

Mrs. McMahon was a special education paraprofessional in the Pittsfield Public Schools as well a beloved staff at the Boys & Girls club for many years.

She found joy in life's simple pleasures - a glass of boxed wine on the porch, a cigarette in hand, and good conversation with family. Sundays were her favorite, gathered around the table for weekly family dinner, sharing stories and playing games (UNO), laughter, and love. She adored her pets, who were always by her side, and was happiest soaking up the sunshine, sitting by a crackling campfire, or strolling through a fair with a smile on her face.

Irene is survived by her children, Andrew J. McMahon and wife Heather of Pittsfield, Shannon M. McMahon, with whom she lived, and Casandra L. Magner and longtime partner Jason LaBarre of Pittsfield. A brother, Joseph M. Ziemlak (Diane) of Florida; three grandchildren Brodiann, Skylarae, and Ashtin Magner. She was predeceased by her husband and two brothers, Vernon J. "Skipper" Butler and Francis "Butch" Butler.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held, Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St, Pittsfield. A funeral home service will be held, Thursday, November 6, 2025 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, celebrated by Rev. Msgr. Michael Shershanovich, Pastor of St. Joseph Church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her name to Pittsfield Boys and Girls Club in care of the funeral home.
