Irene passed away Monday, May 8, 2023 at St. Luke’s Nursing Home in Dickinson.
Irene Mable Nutz was born October 4, 1929 to John and Esther (Schlat) Wolf. She grew up in the Regent area and attended TeePee Butte Country School through the seventh grade. Irene married Harold Nutz on April 1, 1950 on the Wolf family farm. They were later blessed with two daughters, Sandy and Tammy. Together Irene and Harold raised their family on Harold’s family farm near Regent. They lived there for a period of time before moving into Regent. After losing the love of her life, Irene moved to New England where she made her home for several years.
Irene enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandkids. Irene enjoyed spending her time outside, whether it be fishing or gardening. She spent countless years tending to her large gardens. You could then find her in her kitchen canning food or cooking. Cooking was always a delight. She was the best cook no matter what she was making, although German food was her all-time best.
Irene is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Jerald) Rafferty and Tammy (Alton) Lien; grandchildren, Shannon (Natalie) Rafferty, Daren (Julie) Rafferty, Heather Lien, Amber (Heather Silbernagel) Lien; great-grandchildren, Blake, Madison, Brayden, Nathan, Nevon, Siena, Lindsay, Maya, Jaren, Aiden, Holly, Ella, Owen, and Colten; brothers, Lavern (Darlene) Wolf, Melvin Wolf, Archie (Diane) Wolf, Ardene (Vivian) Wolf, Virgil (Lisa) Wolf and Russel (Sue) Wolf; sisters, Georgene (Don) Greff, and Bernadine Jorstad; sister-in-law, Darlene Wolf; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold; siblings, Reuben Wolf, Viola Bertsch, and Adeline Cherry; and brother-in-law Marvin Jorstad.
