Irene Sias, devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 93, in Fresno, CA on September 30, 2025. Irene was born in Corcoran, CA on October 21, 1931 to Silverio and Pasquala Rojas. She was raised in Gonzales, California along with her eight brothers and sisters. While in her twenties, she worked in the fields of the Salinas Valley. It is there, in the carrot fields she met her future husband, Vincent Sias. They married on October 28, 1956 and moved to Salinas.

Salinas was her home for the next fifty eight years. She worked as a teacher's aide at Sherwood School for many years until her retirement. She adored all the students she worked with and had many fond memories of them. But her greatest blessing was her three grandchildren, Colin, Chase and Amanda. She loved their overnight visits, taking them to the beach and parks, and teaching them how to make tamales. Even though they lived two hours away she would attend numerous soccer games, t-ball, then baseball games, as well as Christmas programs and Grandparent days. She had a love of gardening, that she inherited from her mother, then passed that on to her daughter and grandchildren. She also loved to dance, first learning from her brother as a teenager, then going to dances with her sisters and cousins. And she loved the San Francisco Giants and Golden State Warriors. She hardly missed any of the games over the last few years.

Irene is preceded in death by her son, Joey Barrera , her husband, Vincent Sias. She is survived by her daughter Michelle and husband Doug Perkins. Her grandsons Colin and Chase Perkins, and her granddaughter, Amanda Perkins. Her sisters, Eleanor (Ernest) Boutte,

Mary Aguilar, and Phyllis Urquidez. As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Irene's life on Tuesday, October 14th at 11 at Struve and Laporte Funeral Chapel, 41 W San Luis Street Salinas, CA.93901.

Burial immediately following at Queen of Heaven cemetery 18200 Damien Way Salinas, CA 93907. Reception to follow at the Veterans Hall, 90 5th Street Spreckels, CA.93962
