Ireneo Sanchez Obituary
Ireneo "Nene" Sanchez, a lifelong resident of Pharr, was born on January 14, 1940, to Tomas and Margarita (Herebia) Sanchez. He passed away on February 26, 2026, at the age of 86, at the hospital following a brief illness.
Nene was preceded in death by his baby sister, Olivia Sanchez; his beloved mother and father; his sister, Maria Luisa "Chita" Sanchez; and his sister, Margarita "Mague" Sanchez.
He is survived by his brothers, Tomas Sanchez Jr. (Criselda - deceased) and Juan Sanchez (Maria Olivia); and his sisters, Beatriz (Pablo) Sanchez, Amelia (Raul) Martinez, and Lioba Sanchez. He is also survived by his longtime friend and devoted caregiver, Cristina Renteria, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Raul Martinez Jr., Alex R. Sanchez, Jose P. Sanchez, Ruben E. Trevino, Enrique Trevino, and Jeremiah Garza.
Nene made friends everywhere he went and he will be deeply missed by all. His presence, kindness, quiet strength, and unmistakable voice will remain in the hearts of his family and friends always. He will never be forgotten.
Visitation will be held from 4pm to 9pm with a 7pm rosary on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at De Leon Funeral Home in Pharr. Funeral Mass will be held at 12noon on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at St. Margaret Catholic Church in Pharr. Burial will follow at Palm Valley Memorial Gardens in Pharr under the direction of De Leon Funeral Home of Pharr.

I will always remember Uncle Nene as a friendly, kind, and loving man. He cherished every moment coming over to Mom and Dad´s for Easter egg hunts, barbecues, and just spending time together. Thank you, Uncle Nene, for being such a wonderful uncle. You will always be missed and remembered with love.
