It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Iris Amelie Backues, who left this world too soon on June 1, 2025, at 5:39 PM. Born on August 13, 2022, in Saratoga Springs, Utah, Iris was a radiant light in the lives of her family and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Named for the Greek Goddess of Rainbows, Iris embodied joy and wonder. From her unique green and brown eyes, reminiscent of her great grandfather, to her spirited personality, she brought an abundance of love and laughter. Her days were filled with playing in nature, riding her tricycle and scooter, and singing "You Are My Sunshine," a song that echoed her sunny disposition. Iris had an innate curiosity, always eager to learn new things, from counting to cooking, and her desire to emulate her older sister showcased her boundless love and admiration for family.
Iris found joy in the simple pleasures of life; whether it was splashing in the tub, enjoying time outdoors, or changing her outfits, she made every moment special. Her extraordinary spirit touched the hearts of those around her, and she taught us all about the beauty of pure joy and love.
She is survived by her devoted parents, Jake Backues and Laura Vacaguzman, who will forever cherish the brief yet beautiful time they had with her. Iris will be deeply missed, but her legacy as our little sunshine and ever-present rainbow will continue to inspire and uplift us.
In honor of Iris's life, funeral services and ceremonies will be held June 6, 2025 5 PM, 267 W Weatherby Drive 84045. Offering a space for family and friends to gather, reflect, and celebrate the incredible light she brought into the world. Those who wish to pay their respects will be invited to come together in love and remembrance, sharing stories and moments that brought smiles to our beloved Iris.
Iris Amelie Backues will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Rest peacefully, little one, until we meet again in the embrace of rainbows.
