Iris Bridges Bridwell, 78, of Eutawville, South Carolina, passed away on December 10, 2025.
Born on January 7, 1947, in Greenville, she was the daughter of Broadus Austin “Doc” Bridges and Evora Smith Bridges.
Iris was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose gentle spirit touched everyone she met. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Eutawville and an active member of the Francis Marion VFW Auxiliary Post 10980, where she was currently serving as Chaplain.
For many years, Iris worked as a secretary in the Holly Hill school system. Later in life, she and her husband Larry enjoyed four memorable years as team drivers in an 18-wheeler, traveling the country together and creating cherished memories. Iris especially loved the beach, where she found peace and happiness no matter what time of the year it was.
Iris was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Tammi.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Larry Bridwell; her sons Brad Bridwell (Lisa) and Austin Bridwell (Shana); and her grandchildren Brandon, Kayla, Megan, Jennifer, Gage, and Jaylyn and a great-granddaughter, Hazel, as well as her faithful companions Harley, Marly, and Coco. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her.
Those serving as pallbearers are Kurt Knouse, Harry Trosper, JW Brown, Wes Griffin, John Bishop, and Jim Moore.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 14, 2025, from 1:00–2:00 PM, with a funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will conclude at the Eutawville Cemetery.
