Iris Lee Clay

Iris Lee Clay, 93, of Lake City, FL, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026. Born in Deland, FL, to the late Charles and Nellie Bane Jones, Iris was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She managed a daycare for several years, where she loved caring for little ones. Iris enjoyed reading and cooking and was a cherished member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Live Oak, FL.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Franklin 'Jeff' Clay; her sister, Irma Jean Carwile; and her brothers, Arthur, Larry, Charlie, and Paul Jones. She is survived by her two daughters, Janet Cheek and Gloria Santanelli; her grandchildren, Derek Cheek, Shondra Gifford, Ethan Cheek, Heather Livingston, and Ashley Pruett; and her great-grandchildren, Clay, Connor, Claire, Kurstan, Cora, and Ryland.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 1pm at Tabernacle Baptist Church, with a visitation beginning at 12:30pm. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Tabernacle Baptist Church of Live Oak, FL, or Haven Hospice of Lake City, FL.
