Jo Mikalauskas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory - Live Oak on Mar. 10, 2026.
Jo Ann Mikalauskas, age 68, of Live Oak, Florida, passed away on March 5, 2026.

Jo Ann was born on January 11, 1958 and spent her childhood and formative years along the waters of Eastern North Carolina on Davis Shore. She was raised in a hardworking fishing family at Luther Lewis & Son Seafood Company, where the rhythms of the tide, the boats, and the close-knit coastal community helped shape the person she would become.

The water remained a constant part of her life. She later worked at a sail loft in Beaufort, North Carolina, where her appreciation for the sea continued to grow. Jo Ann loved being on the water and carried that coastal spirit with her throughout her life.

After the birth of her son, she spent several years living in the Caribbean in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, embracing island life and the beauty of the ocean she had always loved. In later years, she made her home in Florida, eventually settling in Live Oak in 2012. She was of the Baptist faith.

Jo Ann will be remembered for her free spirit, her love for the water, and the joy she found in spending time with her son and grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Joshua Bagley, and his wife Brooke, of Live Oak, Florida; her sister, Bobbye Davis of Wilmington, North Carolina; and her two beloved grandchildren, Bailee Jean Bagley and Macie Lynn Bagley, both of Live Oak.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Mikalauskas, and her sister, Billye Joyce Willis.

The family asks that you keep them in your prayers and invite friends and loved ones to sign the online guestbook in memory of Jo Ann.
