Iris Therese Fitzgerald

Iris Therese Fitzgerald, a resident of Hopewell Junction, NY for more than 30 years and formerly of Irvington, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 6, 2026. She was 73.

Daughter of the late Aniello and Gertrud (Gruesshaber) Guglielmo, she was born in New York City on June 5, 1952.

Iris enjoyed hobbies such as reading, cross stitching, completing puzzles, card games and backgammon, and watching Hallmark movies. She loved taking trips to the beach, especially to South Carolina.

She retired from Verizon after a long career, working in many roles.

Iris is survived by her daughter, Lauren Sasser & her husband Ryan of North Carolina; her son, Michael Fitzgerald of Hopewell Junction; her grandson, C.J.; her twin sister, Irene Laska; her nieces, Jamie Pacuk & her husband Jeff, Stephanie Farrenkopf & her husband Michael; her great-nephews, Bryce, Chase, Ethan, and Garrett; her brother-in-law, Gary Laska; her former husband and friend, Edward Fitzgerald; her Aunt Rosie, family including Amber, Hope, Carol, and their families, and many more beloved cousins, family members, and dear close friends.

Calling hours will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, February 10 at McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am on Wednesday, February 11 at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, NY. Interment will follow at St. Denis Cemetery, 604 Beekman Road, Hopewell Junction, NY.
