Iris Helene Koppelman Frey, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on August 27, 1929, and raised in the Bronx, Iris attended Evander Childs High School. After graduation she worked as a comptroller and It was there in New York that she met Samuel Frey. They married on October 28, 1951, in Parkchester, NY, and together built a life, raising two children Gary and Jane in Hollywood, Fl. As their children grew Iris volunteered in the school system, and then later worked for a dental office. Upon becoming an empty nester she filled her life with charity work and activities. Iris adored-playing tennis, mahjongg, and canasta. She and Sam shared a passion for travel, living in Delray Beach, and finally settling into Boynton Beach where Iris found a community she truly cherished. After Sam's passing following 50 years of marriage, Iris found new joy with Saul, whom she met on JDate. Together, they became "recycled teenagers," filling their days with dancing, canasta, laughter, and the company of dear friends. Iris brought energy and enthusiasm to everything she did. Whether she was volunteering her time, dancing, singing, or simply sharing her radiant smile, she left a lasting impression on everyone around her. Even after breaking her femur at 90 and later beginning her journey with Alzheimer's, Iris's resilience shone through, and her love of family, life, and games never faded. She is predeceased by her husband Sam and son, Gary and survived by her daughter Jane; her six grandchildren; Cody, Carly,Lauren, Jeffrey, Michael, Daniel, and one great grandson Ben She will be remembered always for her warmth, vibrancy, and zest for life. A private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at Eternal Light.
