Funeral services for Ms. Iris Pardue Gray Smith are scheduled for 11 AM Thursday, May 4, 2023, at Bonita Road Baptist Church (7204 Pine Grove Loop Rd. Bastrop, LA 71220), with Bro. Casey Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 10 AM.
Ms. Smith was a retired Deputy Clerk with the Morehouse Parish Sheriff's Office for over twenty years. She was a member of the Red Hatter Society and St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was an avid rose gardener. She also loved reading and keeping up with current events. Ms. Smith always had a positive attitude and loved her family and grandchildren dearly.
She is survived by her five children: Judy and Bill Leo of Demorest, GA, Sharon Guice of Bastrop, LA, Charles and Sandra Gray of Diboll, TX, Mary Catherine and Tom Andrews of Chidester, AR, and Deborah and Peyton Grant of Baton Rouge, LA. Her sixteen grandchildren: Jeff Smith, Christina and Brian Greer, David Smith, Toby and Brittany Guice, Leigh and Shawn Akers, Margaret Claire Guice, Stacie McCue, Melissa and Jarod Key, Eric Wheeler, Brandy and Jason Thomas, Sarah and Tyler Jones, Josh and Angelica Andrews, Christopher and Ginny Grant, Meghan Grant and Will Taylor, Amanda and Dane Pizzolato, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Joye Baker of Bastrop, LA, and Cora Crain of Haile, LA.
Ms. Smith is preceded in death by her parents, Jurd and Alma Pardue; son, Thomas Gray; brothers and sisters, J.C. Pardue, Pauline Pardue, Quentin Pardue, Kathleen Harrell, Lloyd Pardue, Ernestine Westbrook, Dempsey Pardue, Carrie Springfield, Leo Pardue, and Kenyon Pardue; son-in-law, Gary Guice; and grandson, Jamie Guice.
