Iris R. Ryniak. Age 94.
On April 11, 2023, at the age of nearly 95 years, Iris Ryniak joined her husband and two of her sons in the arms of the Lord. She passed quietly in the presence of family in Prescott, Arizona.
Iris was born in 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, the second of three daughters of Harvey and Diane Schroeder. As a child she performed as "Sugar Baby" on WXYZ Radio, along with her older sister. After the family moved to what was then Ecorse Township, Michigan (now Southgate), she attended schools in Wyandotte and graduated from Wyandotte Roosevelt High School.
At 21 years of age "Sug" married Casimir "Kayo" Ryniak, with whom she raised five sons. She loved to travel, and over the years was able to visit Hawaii, Italy, and France, as well as her ancestral village in Quebec, Canada. She also was able to take both Caribbean and Pacific cruises. She remained a resident of Southgate until 2021 when she became a permanent resident of Mesa, Arizona, where she had spent winters since 1990.
Throughout her life, her religion and family were her foundation and brought her great joy. She laughed easily and often, loved playing cards and games and was always in the middle of a book or working out a crossword puzzle. Nothing gave her greater fulfillment than having the family together, enjoying each other's company.
Iris was preceded by her parents Harvey and Diane, sisters Beatrice and Betty, husband Casimir, and sons Gary and Ronald. She is survived by sons Richard, Kenneth and Michael (Rebecka); daughters-in-law Diane and Gail; grandchildren Sarah, Emily, Joseph, Hannah, Sarah and Jennifer; and great-grandchildren Jack, Sophie, Lia, Tiago, Norah, and Quinn.
