Iris Santos Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Georgia Cremation - Fayetteville on Feb. 2, 2026.
Iris Isabel Santos, 85, of Jonesboro, GA, passed away on January 30, 2026.

Iris was born August 19, 1940, in New York City, NY, to Isabelino and Filomena (Velez) Santos. She grew up in New York and Puerto Rico, alongside her parents, brothers, and sister. Iris graduated from New York High school in 1958. She spent her entire working career as a professional Seamstress, creating works of art that nothing could compare to.

Iris met the love of her life while living in New York. The couple were married for 20 years and welcomed three amazing children into this world. Some of Iris' most memorable places she called home were Bronx, NY, Puerto Rico, and for the last eleven years right here in Georgia.

Ms. Santos was a devout Catholic all of her life. Her hobbies included baseball, boxing, reading, and dancing. She enjoyed baseball so much that she became an organizer for the Little League baseball team. She spent her last years knitting things for her family, reading her favorite kinds of books, and listening to music that was good for her soul.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sons: Mario Rodriguez and wife Yoli of Jonesboro, GA and Jose Rodriguez of Boston, MA; her daughter: Iris Rodrigues Jones and husband Emmanuel of Jonesboro, Ga; her grandchildren: Maria I., Maria A., Karen Jaret; her great-grandchildren: Juanchi, Angel, Eric, Fluffy, Gigi; and her adoring doggies.

Iris Isabel Santos will forever be remembered as an amazing mother who provided high moral values and respect to others and as her family's protector.
