Iris Jewell Wolfe, born on February 1, 1949, in Easterday, Carroll County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home in Carrollton, Carroll County, Kentucky, surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, April 13, 2025. She worked many years as a restaurant server and spent time in local tobacco warehouses, where she was respected and appreciated by her colleagues and patrons alike. Her life was characterized by her unwavering commitment to providing for her family.

In addition to her professional life, Iris had a variety of hobbies and interests that brought her joy. She enjoyed crocheting and cherished the memories made while playing bingo. In her younger years, she found great pleasure in swimming, an activity that reflected her vibrant spirit and zest for life.

Jewell is survived by her daughter, Christel Lewellyn of Ghent, KY; son, Timothy (Wanda) Short of Independence, KY; stepsons, Robert and Terry Wolfe, both of Carrollton, KY; and a sister, Barbara (Larry) Burkhardt of Milton, KY. Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elkanah Johnson and Eula Mae Shaw Johnson; her husband, James Wolfe; her sisters, Juanita White, Mildrene Morris, and Doris June Hogan; her brothers, Johnny Johnson, Elkanah Paul Johnson, Garvin Johnson, Winston Johnson, Leon Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, Jerry Johnson, Glenn Johnson, and Joel Johnson; as well as one grandchild.

Iris's life touched many, and her spirit will be remembered fondly by all who knew her. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home located at 809 Highland Ave, Carrollton, KY, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at the funeral home.  Interment will take place in the Ghent Masonic Cemetery- Ghent, KY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Pentecostals of Carrollton Building Fund in care of the funeral home.

Arrangements have been entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riely Funeral Home.
