Irvin E. Johnson

Irvin Eugene "Gene" Johnson, 94, of Cape Coral, FL passed away on 28 Nov 25. Gene was born in Melba, Idaho on 25 May 1931 to dairy farmer parents, Carl and Edna Johnson. In 1949, after graduating high school, Gene enlisted in the USN as it was the farthest thing from the dairy he could imagine. After spending an almost 21-year career in the USN Gene retired as a Chief Petty Officer. He then worked several more years and retired from civil service at NAS Cecil Field in Jacksonville, FL.

Gene is pre-deceased by his parents and his brothers Elmer and Fred. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lolita, and daughters, Jeannie, Nancy(Pete) and Dani(Elizabeth).

Gene was a wonderful and loving husband and father. He could construct most anything without needing a blueprint. He was known for his dry sense of humor and always having an obscure song from the 1930's or 40's to whistle or sing.

Gene will be interred at the Sarasota National Cemetery on December 19th at 12:30pm. The family is requesting that no floral arrangements be sent.
