Irvin "Clay" McGlothin, age 85, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026. He was born on August 28, 1940.

Clay proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, a commitment that reflected his strong sense of duty and patriotism. After his military service, he built a long and respected career with the L&N Railroad, where he retired as a conductor.

Clay was a devoted man of faith and a longtime member of Southeast Christian Church. He faithfully served as an usher for more than 30 years, welcoming countless individuals with a warm smile and a kind spirit.

A lifelong fan of the University of Kentucky, Clay especially loved Kentucky football. He cherished attending games alongside family and friends, creating memories filled with laughter, tradition, and Wildcat pride.

Clay was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jan; his son, Jeff; his daughter, Kelly; and his brothers Bobby, Danny, and Johnny.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; his daughter, Danielle (Joey); his stepdaughters, Niki and Wendy (Preston); his siblings, Lynn (Janet), Jerry (Tammy), and Diane; and his cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Austin, Peyton, Dillion. Brook, Hailey, Jacob, and Samantha. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his steady presence and loving heart.

Clay will be remembered for his faith, his dedication to family, his love of football, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life. He leaves behind a legacy of service, loyalty, and love that will continue through all who knew him.

Visitation with family and friends to be held on Saturday January 24, 2026, from 10 am - 12 pm.

Funeral Service at 12 pm officiated by pastor Steve Hucks at Middle Creek Baptist Church 6455 Knoxville Hwy Oliver Springs, TN 37840.

Graveside service with military honors will follow at the Davis Cemetery in Coalfield, Tn
